How to stop weeds coming through stones? I’m weeding this every 6-8 weeks and I hate it. Any good ideas for preventing growth?
You use vinegar dawn dish soap and baking soda it will kill the weeds and poison ivy.
Plant moss in between, choke out weeds.
Just sprayed some weeds with a 4 litre (1 gallon) of vinegar, a tub of salt, and a tad of dawn soap this morning and already weeds are dying by this afternoon. So much easier than pulling.
You could try the paver sand, or pull the stones and lay down a weed barrier, then lay the stones back on too. You could use a dedicated weed barrier fabric, or cardboard supposedly works well too (only use the plain brown stuff, nothing glossy/shiny) although you may have to eventually redo the cardboard after a few years.
“Also known as sodium bicarbonate, baking soda has a high salt content that when it is poured over the weeds, it will cause them to dry out from the roots to tips and eventually die. To use baking soda for this purpose, wet the weeds using your garden hose and sprinkle the baking soda on top of them. Baking soda is also helpful on how to stop weeds from growing between pavers. Just pour baking soda over your pavers and sweep it into the cracks. Do this ideally during spring or fall, and you should reapply every 4 to 6 weeks.”
Put something in there that looks more purposeful, like moss or creeping thyme or micro clover to outcompete the weeds.
Boiling water is the best.
Vinegar and salt mixed in water.
Try some weed killer, maybe granules, and see if it works. Or some type of sand/fine grit to drown out the roots.
White vinegar with a splash or 2 of dawn dish soap on a sunny day will prevent weeds for up to 6 months. I use it in place of round up and it’s incredibly cheap and it’s easy to apply. Do not spray on grass it will also kill it!
Moss!! I’d plant moss in the cracks.
Could you put in polymeric sand? It seems like this walkway may shift though so I can’t be certain if it would be good.
